Transportation Coordination

Community Transportation is all transportation resources in a community that are available to help meet community mobility needs. These include both public and private services, i.e. shuttles for seniors, church/nonprofit vans, etc.

The vision of a coordinated transportation network is that all providers, including public transit, private operators, cycling and walking, and volunteer drivers work together with customers, planners, and stakeholders to deliver options that best meet a community’s needs. Simply put, “nothing about us without us”.

In New Hampshire, the Coordinated Transportation framework was developed in 2006; it consists of a State Coordinating Council (SCC) comprised of state agencies, transit providers, nonprofits, regional planning commissions, and other groups.  This agency guides coordinated transportation across NH, as well as nine Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs). The Statewide Coordination Plan was rewritten in 2016 and can be found on the SCC page of the NH DOT website.

Regional Coordinating Council for Community Transportation

RCC StaffThe regional coordinating council (RCC) works to develop information that is helpful to transportation service users, identify opportunities for coordination between service providers, and develop a coordinated transportation plan. Participants of the RCC include local transportation providers, human service agencies, funding agencies and organizations, consumers, regional planning commission staff, and the mobility manager for that region.
